How to reduce the delay in garment sampling?
You may follow the below 10 tips.
1.Make Time and Action Calander
Plan your sampling styles in detail. Prepare a Time and Action calendar in detail for scheduling. Note when to start a task and when to finish it. Put the name of the responsible person for the task. Follow task according to the plan. Chase the person until the task gets finished. If something is getting delayed, create alarm and seek help from others.
2. Critical path management
Always you should identify jobs that are not dependent on each other, start parallel processing, sourcing, pre-assembling. This will reduce your time for sampling, and you can work on more samples at a time.
3. Don’t believe in Guesswork
If you have any confision,don’t do that work. Communicate with your seniors or contact immediately to buyer for clarification.
4. Work with a checklist
Whichever need for for sampling that write down on a note book & make a complete list. Start doing the work one by one. It will be more effective if you prepare two checklists, one for daily To Do list and second one for style-wise checklist. Start work with daily to-do List and next update style wise checklist. Following this method you can keep track all your styles.
5. Inventory check
Before sending the work to the sampling tailors, check if everything is ready according to the required quality and quantity. This will help you minimize forward and backward communication with the sampling team and material store. Secondly, the sampling tailors complete your samples in one go.
6. Check and approve the Quality
Before proceeding for the next step check and approve quality and specification by yourself. Please check two to threes times minimum before approval. If you are going to use alternative quality for time saving, inform it to your buyer prior to using it in sample.
7. Be prepared with alternative
Whenever developing samples like lap dips, print strike off, embroidery work or bead work make multiple options. By alternative, in case buyer rejects your first sample you can quickly send alternative one. By this way you can reduce lot of time required for re-development.
9. Update your knowledge
You need to know the fabric in the product range, the current trend, and the technical knowledge of new products.This provides the advantages for sampling quickly.
10. Don’t miss the deadline
Chase your suppliers, chase sourcing and sampling department constantly. Day by day keep on the follow up process.
